John is a veteran in the New Zealand tattoo scene. John now works
with us the last Friday of the month.
John has been tattooing for over 25 years, he owned and operated Monsta Truck tattoo in Napier for 22
years, where he built up a strong customer base and style.
After two decades it was time for a change and he moved to wellington in 2018. John specializes in Neo
Japenese tattoos a modern take on traditional Japanese tattooing blending different aesthetics and
flare to the classic eastern style.
With his experience he is adept at many styles and a good walk in artist, so no matter what the style
you will be in good hands.
Tash has been tattooing in wellington over the past two years first learning to hand
poke and then learning to tattoo by machine.
She became interested in tattooing as a new medium in her artistic endevours. After seeing a
backpiece on a family friend she knew tattooing would be a way to pursue art as a career. She learnt a
little about hand poked tattooing from a friend who worked at a tattoo collective in Auckland and
afterwards she moved to Melbourne. She got a job in hospitality to buy art supplies for painting
commissions and continued to learn more about hand poked tattoos with a plan to work towards getting a
tattoo apprenticeship.
Tash likes to do black illustrative designs and we are excited to nuture her and watch her grow.
Craigy began his tattoo career with an apprentiship in Saint Petersburg, Florida,
returning to his native London shortly afterwards. After two years of busy city life he got itchy feet
and spent the next two and a half years travelling the world, working at tattoo shops and conventions
in the UK, Europe, Asia, Australia and New Zealand. He finally settled down in Wellington in 2012,
opening Union Tattoo with his partner India in 2015. He does regular guestspots around New Zealand
working in the country’s top studios, constantly pushing his artistic skills forward.
Craigy specializes in dark illustrative designs, simplistic with a less is more approach, but can lend
his hand to most styles.
